I'm Not Mad At You
I'm not mad at you
I just want you to know
That I'm eighteen now
I'm an adult so
If you want to teach me things
When you come back to stay
Don't worry,
I learnt them while you were away

I learnt how to ride a bike
And write essays and stuff
I learnt never to settle
'Cause this world isn't enough
I learnt I'm of value
I learnt to be real
I learnt there's more to love
Than just what you feel

I'm not mad at you
I just want you to know
That despite your absence
I still managed to grow
I still learnt the lessons
My dad should have taught me
Not from you, but it doesn't matter
As you can see

No emotional support
And no money to live
Learning my father doesn’t give
You forgot my birthday
Five years in a row
Like I said, it doesn't matter
I still managed to grow

Though it's hard in this house
We can't afford to extend
It's okay
I'm sure you did your best in the end
Always looking out for us
In ways that I couldn't see
My mum, my three sisters, and me

Don't worry dad, I'm not mad
I just want you to know
That I'm eighteen now
I'm an adult so
If you want to teach me things
When you come back to stay
Don't worry,
I learnt them while you were away
